Lamees Abaza
Psychotherapist
Lamees Abaza completed her M.A in psychology in 2014 from The New School (New York), after having received her Bachelor’s degree from The American University in Cairo. She has experience working with high-risk populations in New York and has spent three and a half years at Behman Hospital, all of which have led her to become comfortable working with individuals from different backgrounds and cultures.
In her work and school, she has learned a lot about substance abuse and psychopathology in adults, as well as maladaptive coping methods, anxiety, and depressive symptoms.
Lamees believes in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and takes a client-centered approach. She prefers an eclectic approach, which includes but is not limited to cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic therapy, as well as motivational interviewing and mindfulness.
Ms Abaza is comfortable conducting sessions in Arabic, English, and German.
